Biography :

Enlisted at Leicester 5.3.1889. Served with the 1st Battalion at the Siege of Ladysmith 1899-1900. Was still serving with the battalion in Ireland in 1914. For World War One he first entered France 9.9.1914. Awarded the Military Medal (see L.G. 27.10.1916, p.10483). He was also awarded the service and Good Conduct Medal. Discharged, due to ill-health, 28.3.1918.
